St. Louis Cardinals' Troy Glaus yells back at home plate umpire Ted Barrett after being called out on strikes during the ninth inning of a baseball game Friday, July 4, 2008, in St. Louis. The Cubs won 2-1.

The return of Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano trumped the soap opera setting of Jim Edmonds’ homecoming and Albert Pujols’ 300th home run. Bizarre triple helps Red Sox top Yankees (AP)

In this photo combo, New York Yankees Johnny Damon attempts to catch a ball hit deep by Boston Red Sox's Kevin Youklis during the third inning of a baseball game Friday, July 4, 2008 at Yankee Stadium in New York. The ball slipped out of Damon's glove and the hit was ruled a two-run triple. Damon left the game after the play.

Yankee Stadium has a history of drama on the Fourth of July. There was Lou Gehrig’s farewell speech in 1939, and Dave Righetti’s no-hitter against Boston in 1983. It’s George Steinbrenner’s birthday, so it’s always an important date to circle on New York’s calendar. Kevin Youkilis made the final Fourth at the ballpark truly memorable, sparking a come-from-behind 6-4 victory for the Red Sox on Friday…
